Hi all,

I bought an 1996 Spi Equinox a few moths back and I am currently on with restoring it. While trhing to tidy the wiring up, I noticed an abnormal blue box sat in the engine bay with a few wires coming out, connecting it to the main loom and ignition coil. I pulled it out and confirmed it was a Superchips Icon.

A bit of digging on here and this modification is well documented. It seems to have had a rise and then fall in popularity and so I removed it based on the information I found.

To remove, it was just 4 wires spliced into the loom/ignition coil. Having now removed the physical unit, i wondered if I need to do anything else to completely eliminate it from my system?

Thanks

Thomas

I’m wondering the same, as I have an intermittent cut out to the Rev counter and coil so think it may be this unit either acting up or the spade joints going bad... either way I’d like to see the info you found out that lead to you making the informed choice to remove it please :)

Regards
Martyn
