 - but boy howdy  is it noisy now!

 

I wasn't going to raise this as I thought it was just me.

 

One of the features Leyland pushed regarding the Plastic Fan was that (according to them) it is quieter for the same air volume.

 

I've always found them to make as much din, if not, more, than any metal fan I've ever run with and yes, been tempted to swap them around just to shut them up. The sound they make, is very different to the metal fans but noise they do make.

I believe what is critical is where the fan sits in relation to the cowling on the radiator. If the plastic fan is turned around with the smooth side towards the radiator then the fan blades move into the cowling by about 1/2 inch which could possibly cause slight turbulence and thus reduce efficiency slightly. 

 

We need the aerodynamic experts to give us further insight :gimme:
