The only difference with the 1992 mini is it has the Park gear, which the 84 mini doesn't. Will this be a problem if I swap?

Technically, no, however, it may legally be required to have a Park position in order to make the car roadworthy. Have a chat to your friendly MOT man before doing the swap.
