Hi all, bit confused about Mini indicator stalk history. I believe that any car upon till 1984 should have the indicator stalk on the right. But then I go on google and some have them on the left. Am I wrong or are people converting them from the right hand side to the left? TIA

Yeah I think you've got that right.  I converted an spi to indicators on the right a while back as I've always prefered that way round.  It means you can operate the indicators or dip switch whilst changing gear.

For a long time the indicator switch was on the left on left hand drive cars and the right on right hand drive.  Then I think it was possibly Ford in the seventies who put them all on the left.  Only one type of switch to make then and we got the short straw in Britain.  Japanese cars had them on the right for far longer but then their cars are right hand drive too I believe.
