Hi all.

This may have been asked before, but I recently purchased a duplex set for my 1330. The gear fitting onto the crank is very tight. I've tried using some grinding paste on the mating surface to smooth it a little bit it's still very tight. Is this common and I need to keep going, or is there something else I should be doing?

Thanks in advance.

My Kent Cams vernier duplex is pretty tight on the crank, not mega tight, just too tight to fit by hand. Needs tapping on and the use of a puller or some careful levering to remove.

Try it without the woodruff and have a look at the keyways for burrs or bruising. Also the shoulders of the machined faces might want breaking with a touch of chamfering.

I found emery works better, as above chamfer the edges with a needle file, also from where you've pasted it you should be able to see any high spots.

Use emery tape, the gear must slide on without any force. Same applies to the gear on the cam shaft.

As the other guys have suggested in regard to the emery - you don't want to reduce the crank nose size.

Many are too tight out of the box, I like to get them a firm fit, that's just too tight to move with the fingers, but only just.
