Hi, I'm having trouble sourcing some cheap bracing tube. I've tried a few local places but are waiting for stock. I'm wondering where is the best place online to buy some 20x20x1500mm lengths? I have tried ebay but it seems so expensive for something I will probably never use again. I'm based in Essex.

Don’t forget to mention the wall thickness.

Have asked them what they have in stock. 25x25 might be more common.

I asked for 1.5mm and have been quoted around £35 for 7m length's. I'd be happy to pay that if they had some. Would it be worth trying the scrappies?

I think to my work, a full 30' length of 80x40x3 is like £70, i dont know about 1" type stuff...

no body builders by you who you could call into on a sat morning like?

Or even try the local scrap merchants like you say

You could also try Dyfed steels. They’ve got a depot in Essex and my local branch usually has an assortment of off cuts and half lengths for cheap as long as you’re not set in stone for you tube size.

Gumtree, Facebook? Get imaginative with your searches: bed frames, school/office desks....

I have a friendly local fabricator, competitive as he's only a mile away and buys at a better price than I can.

Just a note I normally use 30x30x3mm box when I brace a shell and wouldn’t use anything under 2mm wall thickness.

It probably over kill but I feel like a under 2mm wall has the potential to be quite flimsy. Obviously not something you want when trying to keep a car straight.

Do you have a metalsupermarket close by?
They’re usually pretty flexible with sizes
