I've got a split in the metal of my boot floor panel - about 6 inches long - and the battery box is coming away from the floor panel on one side where it joins the panel. It's not badly corroded, so the metal is pretty good.

Can splits be welded back together or is it a question of getting a whole new floor panel put in?

If not to bad Cut the rot out and weld a new piece of metal back in , same for battery box ,or weld a new box in .They are not expensive

If there is any rust then it will be thin and will not weld properly.

The best thing as mentioned is to cut that area out and weld in fresh steel.

Its 0.9mm thick by the way.
