Hi,

I have a 1975 standard 1275GT which I'm looking to have some engine work done on. I'd like to increase the standard hp output and create a fast road engine but without changing the look. Can anyone recommend anyone in the above areas who I could approach to do this work.

Many thanks

Tim

Rob Walker or Southam Mini & Metro Centre. For both, you'll be waiting a fair amount to fit you in!

Southam Mini and Metro centre did my 1380cc, extremely knowledgeable, ridiculously busy and very friendly (Not put it in the car yet, so can't comment on the function). You just need to keep on top of them as they're old school and struggle with technology/communication.

That's the issue i have had with them.  I have had to ring daily to chase my engine, however they are very friendly on the phone!

Smmc do a fantastic job and well worth waiting for but I suppose they have to prioritise the race engines this time of year. I have a mpi motor in there waiting pile but I know when I do eventually get it back it will be spot on.

I agree on SMMC (my 1975 1275GT engine was done by them!) but as another alternative you might talk to CMES (Classic and Modern Engine Services) at Bracknell. They’ve done a couple of engines for me and just finished an MPi. Do a great job and no rip offs eg I wanted an SW5 cam and they only charged me the trade price they paid to Swiftune.

The issue is the same as SMMC - you’ll probably be waiting 3/4 months in a queue. No shortage of work for the good guys it seems so plan ahead!
