Hello. Here is pic of our Moke.
Clubman GT engine with close ratio box, 64/17 diff and 13 inch wheels.
Moke aerodynamics limit on-road usefulness of this drive-chain and is a bit too high geared for driving in the bush, which is what we like to do.
So we're thinking of changing the gearbox and diff.
We are imagining that the best we could do would be to fit the wide ratio gears from a Metro HLE into a minispares 5-speed with 65/15 limited slip diff. This would give us the lowest possible 1st gear and 5th gear similar to our current 4th gear.
Please can we have any advice?
Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
Can anyone suggest, where we might be able to buy a Metro HLE wide ratio gearbox, i.e. with ratios 4.004, 2.307, 1.435, 1.000?
Also, with limited slip diffs, is there any tracking (understeer) issues?
Thanks for any help, greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Colin
