I am rebuilding a 1275 engine and gear box for my son. The block is being rebored to 1308, new pistons, crank regrind etc. A simple question. The block is red and I need to strip this of ready to repaint. Can anyone one advice how to do this please

Ask the place where the machining's being done to clean the block.  That'll take enough of the paint off.

Your machine shop should acid dip the block for you. Mine always does it as standard.
