The engine I have just reinstalled is not firing on #2.

No missfire before I pulled it out  ( pulled it due to a differential issues )

When I pull the wire off # 2 there is no change in engine rev.
I checked compression and have ~130lb on all four.

I have swapped plugs and swapped ignition wires with no change.

When I hold the lead to the plug...I can see good spark.

Wires are on correctly.  #1 at aprox 2 o'clock, then #2 then #4 then #3  ( edit:  clockwise from in front )

You need to make sure that the engine is on Cylinder one compression stroke as the distributor will fit 180 degrees out. The firing order is also 1342 taken from No 1 with the distributor turning anti-clockwise

Understood....I was writing them down clockwise, so....same as 1342 in reverse  ..lol

Dizzy itself has not been touched

Plugs out clean, warm them up and see if it changes.

Just sounds like one of those things.

I can confirm that when i rev it up...all four are running. Seems only at idle and slightly higher #2 isnt firing

OK.......so far.

Compression good

Spark good

Swapped out all leads and distributor cap.

Swapped out plugs with like (BP6ES) from a good runner

Still missing on #2.

I ran for a couple of minutes at 2500 - 3500rpm.

Plugs look a "little" rich, but not bad at all.

Am I possibly looking at a mixture issue on the front carb?  ( Twin HS4 which ran brilliantly prior to this...... #5 needles )

by the way...I did install a new manifold gasket also.

Check for gasket leak by spraying  a little WD40 or similar around it while the engine is running. Any change of tone or "bubbling" will give a clue to maybe a slight gasket leak there. When at idle and #2 isn't firing is it wet with petrol ?

I think I solved it.

I tightened the two nuts on the front carb/manifold flange as tight as I dared without stripping.  There must have been a weeee leak.
