I had a devil of a time getting mine apart too, but locking the gears and turning my impact up to 11, plus some fresh air tool oil in the wrench did the trick. I was preparing to set my lift (with a car on it) on top of the case and use a 3/4" drive socket and breaker on it when the impact wrench did the trick.

I gotta say, I'm not crazy about using an impact wrench here.

All that hamming on a few gear teeth and the bearings,,,,, Mmmmmm......

When I have one that's really tight, I use the 3/4" Drive breaker bar and some pipe.

Holding them down under a car (between timbers) is a one way to grab them, I clamp them down in the press (between timbers of course :D  ).

Ah ha, there is no heavy german weight on the box; there is a hydraulic jack on the front jack pad of the car and thus held just to prevent the box moving around :proud:

I just used a long piece of bar, and a bolt through the gearbox case. Jack handle extension on the socket on the pinion nut and it comes away pretty easily

Thanks where did you bolt the big blue bar to? The trouble I am having is the gearbox case wanting to turn as I apply the force to the main nut.

Cheers.  Well tonight, I sat the mini on it and had another crack at it using a T bar and scaffold bar (bent the T bar).  A breaker bar and scaffold bar and a torque wrench done up to 200lb ft.  All I did was start to lift the mini off the gearbox.  I've admitted defeat for now and will have to have another think.
