Fitting Mini Heater In Mk2

Best Answer A-Cell , 11 August 2019 - 11:48 AM

The brackets (hooks) on the body have probably sprung further apart.myou can bend the brackets toward the centreline of the car to close the gap.
Measure the width of the heater body and set the gap between the brackets to suit.
Hook heater on, fit nuts (1/4 in UNF) do not tighten.
Connect wires for motor.
Swing heater up to meet facia, attach to facia (below switch panel) with screws.
Tighten 7/16 in A/F nuts to body brackets (hooks) Go to the full post

Just refitting my Mini heater (1969 MK 2) thought it was going to be simple until I realised that it would not hook onto the Body brackets of the Car, The rear of Heater as a thread stuck out on each side which then hook on to hooks fitted to Car body (this is Original Heater being fitted to Original Body) the problem is the Hooks are to far apart and the Heater passes through them, you can hook on one side but the other side then misses the other Hook. Its been a few years since I stripped it down does perhaps something fit over these threads to extend them so that they reach the hooks, Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, the distance between brackets is 233 mm and the Heater is 200 mm wide the heater plus the two threads sticking out fits easily between the brackets, I have overcome the problem by extending the thread on the right hand side I can now lift the Heater up and it lines up with the holes and upholstery perfectly, another problem solved, thanks for your help.
