My first MITP and enjoyed it very much.
Such a variety of cars and friendly crowd...
I was miffed (putting it mildly) to be unable to keep up with a couple of classic mini's on the track time session - even on the straight and at full chat they left me standing , I daren't rev it any harder - as i always reconed my mini (FMG 1J - 9th photo down) to be pretty fast, even if I am not half as quick a tasty driver that I kid myself I am.... so pretty fed up and how slow compared to them even on the straight
But phew ! - imagine my relief when I later saw under their bonnets a lotus twin cam (12th photo down) and vauxhall engine in them - so I didn't feel too put out.
Had a great day - amazing cars and people
what surprised me was a really strong attendance bynew MINI owners trade stands and clubs -
Lke or hate em (I am firmly in the like em camp) - you can't deny that the new MINI's have a strong, dedicated and enthusiastic following.
My next outing will be the Brighton Speed Trials - Saturday 7th September , why not pop down - its cars and motorbikes of every description doing a timed sprint along the seafront
- Hoping to have my refurbished Avonbar Cyl head on the engine and improve on last years 17sec time - we'll see...
