It wonder surprise me if EVF were pulling a fast one!
I'll have to update this thread in a few months when I get the car back - it's in for a resto now.

Me being cynical of all big companies think we are all taken for a ride on fuel, it's certainly very different to what it was

Yes it wouldn't surprise me at all!

I would try running without the VSPE and just running Manx Petrolums to see what happens but getting to my plugs requires the removal of the carbs every time and that is a right pain in the posterior!

What are you doing to the car?  I've just built a new dash with lots of shiny Smiths Chrome gauges.  I'm just rewiring the loom.  Holly heck it was a right state!  A bloomin fire hazard!  No joke!  I'll put some pictures up of the state of what was behind the dash and the switch panel.  You'd be horrified!  Yes Mini World you did a great job on this car (not).  I've basically rebuilt the whole thing (well and my brother on the engine/gearbox side of things).

I hope you're keeping well.

I'm curious to know if it would do the same if you filled up with Manx Petroleum Super Unleaded?
Yes S&S is EVF Fuels. Makes me think they are just boosting their standard unleaded fuel with an additive to make Super Unleaded. I know Manx Petroleum get theirs from the Refinery.

I've pinged an email off to EVF (Ellan Vannin Fuels) asking them if they use an octane booster and if so, is it manganese based.  I'm not holding my breath for a reply - last time i rang up and asked them what RON their super-unleaded is there was a long silence...  ;D

I kinda would expect a reply like " Who? No, there's no Ron who works here "

The base fuel is actualy all the same. The additive packages get mixed in when truck drivers fill their trucks. That's where the difference comes from. Hence why people think "but they all get fuel at the same loading place, so fuel must be all the same" -it isn't.
