1275 Crank

Could someone, much smarter than I, please tell me why I have a 12g1505a crank that has no step on the nose.
What I’m meaning is the primary gear from a small bore fits on.
Am I missing something? Is this a mod that was done back in the day?
Cheers in advance
Chris

When that part of the crank becomes damaged - probably from a very early type of Primary Gear - it's common to grind them back and fit a small bore Primary Gear.
Nothing in the world wrong with it, in fact, it's a blessing as there's still a few NOS Small Bore Primary Gears available, that have the decent Deva Bushes in them.

Well that’s good news, I have 6 cranks laying about the place and this one is the only one like it, did my head in for a bit.
The rest of the crank appears to have had some balance adjustments.
