I spent some time mocking this up, about 90% satisfied. The extra speakers dont really add much to the sound in the car but the tweeters really do, helps balance loads. Really wanted everything hidden away so the car still looks standard. Just a bit of fun really.

Just printed in PLA plastic, standard material for these filament printers, cheap and cheerful.

Nice job!

A) Where are the tweeters?

2) Are you going to share the file?

Yeah i know a bit about 3d printers, you can get carbon fibre filament, not sure how pla will stand to vibrations from the speekers, but as you say, not expensive to try again if it needs to be thicker or a different material.

As above, wack ya files on thingyverse.

Very impressive. What’s the room like for fitting at the drivers side?

I had a big shelf made out of FRP that I covered in speaker fabric that sits just under the glove box that’s really good.

Love these kind of projects. Great work

I'll put the file up today but im hesitant as it is rough, I'd like to keep working on it to be more acurate. I'll put up a bunch of warnings.

It was a pretty rough bit of laying FRP over a mould with a pretty rough gel coat. Hence the need for the fabric.

I bonded on a wee foam lip at the front edge that helps keep everything in.

All my door pockets and the glove box are lined with the same stuff - I’m influence too much by the finishing things done in our VW’s and it fits with the theme of the refined road trip car we have.

I’ve a basic clip at the side for a torch and a pen holder - do the odd navigation thing and it’s handy for the navigator.

Whole thing would sit lovely under your printed panel, not sure what size you can print up to and it would take ages.

Great, im making one of these! If i make it at an angle with a lip at the bottom it may actually help direct sound out from under there.

Printer can print up to 40cm, this wouldnt take long if i keep the walls thin. Such a good idea.

Looks like you need a pair of my ducting tidies ;)

Like the duct tidies, where are they from?

Should see the stare of the main feed one on our drivers side, it had to be modified to fit round a bigger steering column, I’m fitting power steering at the minute

I make them, same way printed etc.

I found my steering was so much lighter after fitting Nankang AS1's - but was looking at power steering before getting them.

Do you know of a remote centeral locking kit that works with the MPi mini with the rover stock alarm by any chance?

Looks like I’ll be adding a 3D printer to my special present list along with the vapour blaster, cnc machine, plasma cuter.......

My central locking kit came from Wood and Picket. It has all the woks and then you get an extra module that wires in with it for about an extra £20 to £30. We like it. The range on the rover key is pretty short and rally needs a good battery.

AliceDooper is speaker fabric the proper name, looks a bit like stretchable carpet. Is it self adhesive?

Hi,

It’s fabric for covering homemade speaker box’s. The stuff I get isn’t self adhesive and I prefer that as it gives me a chance to work the fabric to fit first before a final gluing, I use it for lining sore pockets and tight spots that need a bit of fitting. You can buy it in loads of different weights and self adhesive too.

I’ve heard it called acoustic carpet before.
