Hey guys,

So I have my NCT tomorrow (Irish MOT) and my rear left brake light is not working. The rear light itself is, but it goes out once I put my foot on the pedal. I just swapped the bulbs there and the same thing is happening. It also looks like the element itself has blown.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Edit: The driver side rear and brake lights are both working ass they should.

So , the tail light works, but when you put your foot on the brake tail light goes out and no brake light iluminates?

If this is so - its an earth issue, clean any rust off from the earth . You says the bulb looks blown but works if put in tail light so just clean earth and try again

Thanks fellas!

Just looking at the handbook for the MPI, would the first place to check be the earth points C557/559 by the fuel tank?

Cheers

Numberplate lamps use C557 so possible.  The rear of the car also uses C101/C483 which is in the cabin on bulkead / passenger footwell this connects front and rear looms. But most likely that earth is your issue.
