Was the 1275GT with single line, 8.4 inch disks (& 11/16 rear wheel cylinders) fitted with a brake regulator valve at the rear?

If so, which one?

Hi
I'm almost sure the 74/75 don't have a regulator. my 1975 1275gt doesn't have one and the brakes work perfectly fine. I think the smaller rear cylinders were to compensate for it not having one fitted.

I'd need to check on fiche but from 74 to 76 from Chassis No. 19415 to 21596A one listing I have shows they had a 211774 Regulator and 11/16 RWC.

The 76 to 77 from Chassis No 21770A on have no Regulator and 1/2" RWC.

Spider, I am interested to see what you can confirm if you can check the old fiche.

As I would like to configure them as per factory as a starting point.

Thanks

Also depends on what master cylinder you are currently using.

The master cylinder is 0.7 inch.  Is this corrrect for the 1275GT single line system?

0.7 inch bore master cylinder and 11/16 inch bore rear cylinders will need a pressure regulator on the rear brakes to prevent the rear wheels locking up under hard braking.

According to Somerford minis brake diagrams the 1275gt from 74/75 had 8.4 discs 11/16th rear cylinders and no regulator all other non 1275gt minis had the regulator.

Guys, Thanks for the info.

I will try it without the regulator, as this sounds like the standard setup.

If the rears lock up under heavy breaking or in the wet, I will fit the regulator.

Bit of a pain through, as some of the brake lines will need to be changed from single flare to double (or visa-versa) to change from a T to a regulator.

I did start looking at the fiche today, it will take some time as to piece the whole lot together, it's over several pages and some of the chassis numbers are a little hard to read.

None the less, I can confirm there was a long running series of 1275 GT with Single Circuit Hydraulics, 8.4" Discs and a Regulator Valve.

Those without the Regulator were only short lived as not too long after that, the Tandem Circuit came in.

I hope you have got quick reactions.

If your rear brakes lock up in the wet under heavy braking a Mini can spin very quickly, and the results can be messy.

Hi Moke
I've found a flow chart on Minispares website that has conflicting info with regard to the car from 21570A to ? They state a Single circuit, 8.4 discs (no servo) 1/2Rear cylinders , with a 21a1774 regulating valve. I have a single line no servo 1975 1275gt 24935a and wish to know are you or Minispares right as I want to put the correct set up on my car.
