Noise When Plug Phone Into Usb Socket

Best Answer Ol timer , 29 August 2019 - 07:30 PM

I had same issue, I ended up buying a cheap bluetooth adaptor for off ebay which solved my issue entirely, was a few quid cheaper when I got it.

I had a spare USB point to plug it into so it has power continually.

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I have recently fitted a USB charging point on my MK3.

I also have a 3.5mm Jack socket fitted on my retro radio which I connect to my phone via its ear piece socket....

When I plug the Phone into the Radio via the 3.5mm Jack it works and Sounds Fine, However as soon as I plug the Phone Into the USB Charger I get interferrence over the speakers...

where to start

A better quality usb charger most likely.

Try and work out where the interference is being picked up. Does it happen even regardless of the sound source: listening to the radio, a different device playing through the jack while your phone's charging...?

Its the electrical noise from the usb charger getting amplified. Probably a ground loop as both the DC input of the 3.5mm jack and the DC ground the charger will have small voltage diffrences. Id say try another usb charger. Ebay sells USB intermeddiate devices which will provide isolated DC - DC id guess this would help.. However never tried them.
