Wasn't the BHP a bit optimistic if I remember rightly?

It probably was optimistic. The later S Works kit was claimed as 90 bhp, which was at about the limit for the ECU, but I don't think anyone achieved that. The upgrade from the 85 bhp kit to S Works was a new LCB manifold and a modified air filter assembly.

Can anyone shed any light on what the air filter assy mods were?

It was a larger intake snout and a K&N panel filter, you can still buy it from MiniSport.

The standard kit did away with the airbox and ran the stumpy K&N filter
