I recently stumbled across my half started 5 speed sequential gear box, and decided to take a photo and load it, but I don't know how to minimise the picture.

Make an account on imgur.com load there and link to here. Easier than trying to make the images smaller.

This is how I resize the picture to a sensible size and then attach them to a post

Resizing:

Attached File  sc1.jpg   34.89K   3 downloads

Right click (right hand button on the mouse) on the picture file you want to resize and hopefully depending on your version of Office you will have the ability to open pictures in Office (clickk on the highlight "Open with" and Microsoft Office 20xx" which then lets you do the following:

Attached File  sc2.jpg   39.72K   2 downloads

Click on "Picture" then "Resize"

Attached File  sc3.jpg   27.4K   0 downloads

then click on "Custom width x height" -  type 800 in the first box (768 will appear automatically in the second box -press OK and save the file to a new file name (otherwise your original large file will be lost)

Then attaching in TMF:

Attached File  sc4.jpg   15.6K   0 downloads

Post a reply and click/select "More reply options"

Attached File  sc5.jpg   28.4K   0 downloads

This gives you the chance to choose a file - click "Choose a file"  and find the picture file you want to attach in your computer

Attached File  sc6.jpg   69.18K   0 downloads

Click on the file and then click on "Open" which highlights it in TMF

Attached File  sc7.jpg   20.35K   0 downloads

Then click on "Attach this file"

Attached File  sc8.jpg   25.68K   0 downloads

Then you can click on "Add to post" and they will be pictures in the reply (and attached as separate files also I thin

Hope this helps although I'm no computer wiz and there might be better/easier ways

This is how I constructed this reply

That's exactly the way I've done it in the past from my PC and you've explained it very well. It also helps if you put your camera/phone setting to the minimum picture quality before taking the pictures.

Using Imgur is the way fwd and does not restrict you on the pictures you can post.

Its free, and once you have uploaded your pictures to Imgur, click on the picture you want to post. Another screen will come up with various options on the r/h side.

Click on the copy button on the one below.

BBCode (message boards & forums)

Now you can paste it on here.

And you can edit the picture etc etc on Imgur before you post them on whatever forum etc you use.
