Not sure if I’m being a bit simple but been tackling various bits on the mini and brain is slightly fried. When I connect the battery my dash lights and side light are on, nothing seems to turn them off??????? Don’t seem right to me. Any ideas
Thanks

Check the headlight and hazard switch

Then look at the fuse box for corrosion

They both seem fine
Both work
Light switch turns the headlights on when on 3rd click
If I disconnect at the fuse box the lights go out but when I click 2nd on the light switch the lights work and dash lights come on

Sounds to me like there is a wiring fault, first off check that the fuse box terminal backs are clean

Bottom fuse, there 2 wires coming out the fuse box, brown and red/green. If I take the brown off, the lights go out and everything seems to work as it should, dash and side lights come on when on second click
Currently looking for my Haynes to see if the brown and red/green coming out is correct
Bizarre

You can easily eliminate the basic light circuit:

Brown wires are permanent, unfused lives - as in the supply to the light switch.

The red from the switch supplies the sides and illum via the fusebox.

Blue is the headlight feed to the column dip.

Your car's the right age to have a dim dip relay

.... The red green should be supplied by the red from light switch.

The dim dip can be bypassed

I’ve tried removing the pink relay, linking the two wires, disconnected the dim dip at the wing but nothing seems to of worked. ?????
I’m in the process of tidying stuff up so I’ve just disconnected the red wire at the fuse box and will see if everything works as it should

Removing the red seems to have turned off the lights and dash lights, which were always on even with no keys in.
No since removing the red the dash and lights work on the rocker switch as they should

Are you saying you've fixed it?

I'm not clear where you removed the red from.

Brown to the rocker switch which connects to red for sides, which runs to the fuse after which ìt becomes red/green.
