I purchased the all metal one from Mini Spares:

The quality was appalling. It was all rusted up and had damaged fins. I don't know if I just got a bad one or if they will all be the same. Anyway, sending that one back.

I guess my only choice now is an alloy Chinese one? Anyone got any recommended eBay ones?

Haven’t ever purchased an mpi rad but have used Wood and Pickett to purchase a regular side mounted rad before, quality was good, still in car 7 years on and no leaks.

They have this for mpi - https://www.ebay.co....k8AAOSwKtVWv0qh

only other suggestion would be to take a punt on a used original rad from eBay, seems to be plenty on there.

Looks the same as the Mini Spares one. Possibly all made by XPart.

Who knows! It seemed to be the inlets and brackets that were covered in rust deposits so maybe the black coating has metallic content? According to the box it was manufactured over a year ago. I guess I could of cleaned it up and resprayed it but should that be necessary on a new product?

The Minispares version is described as "all metal", that certainly to me means it's ... a metal radiator!

Has anyone ever approached a specialist rad manufacturer such as Radtec to get a quality radiator made?

I had exactly the same issue with the mini spares one. I bought a genuine one from mini sport.

Thanks

i have been using stuart's vmaxscart one now for about 5 years, its a deeper core front mpi rad, see:-

https://www.vmaxscar...rger-kit-parts/

Large capacity mpi radiators £110 was £240!!!!!

i don't use the s/charger kit any more, but the rad has remained

If its anything like the ones I've seen in some of his kits, it's the same size and depth as the Chinese ones.
