Steering Wheel Lock

I have a 1988 Red Hot Mini, the steering wheel lock is stuck, I cannot turn the ignition key. or the steering wheel. I am looking for suggestions to free it.

You'll probably need a new lock.  You'll have to drill the heads off the bolts to replace it.

Find this on google by typing in:- "removing the barrel from an ignition lock".  It is about 5th one down.

 

It is a fiddly job, so start off by blessing it before you begin, as cursing when half way through doesn't help.

 

 

Please read this complete section before attempting this job as understanding the construction of the ignition switch/barrel is essential to replacing it with the

Is the steering wheel actually locked?

 

Sometimes on mine I have to jiggle the steeering wheel at the same time as turning the key to get the key to turn. If you get my drift?
