Does anyone have any recent experience of non genuine vs genuine rear subframes?

I'm not bothered about other than fit and whether I should avoid a non genuine.

Cheers

Tom

Just recently replaced mine with a non-genuine Minispares one. No issues with fitment, but the finish was rubbish. "paint job" that was on it was flaking off with just air from my compressor. Ended up stripping it and applying POR15.

I've just rebuilt a non-genuine subframe that I purchased from Bull Motif. As others have said the finish wasn't great so took the time to sort that prior to building up. Once built up with all new parts it fitted first time and without any faff.

Sorry to highjack, but did people buy the powdercoated ones or just standard painted?

I used to rebuild genuine and non genuine for a lot of people - customers - their requirements over 35 years

I always painted them 2K by spray painting - the finish from most suppliers is pants. I always painted them in 2K  - then the final finish of Waxoyl was again the customer requirements.

Powder coating is fine until it chips and a bugger to patch up.

Plenty of threads on this topic previously to have a look at

Some of the previous work I done - but a lot more of these were produced and manufactured beolw
