I have a set of new Mintex brake pads for the 7.5 inch disks on my mini but I notice that the pad itself is shouldered, meaning that for some time, until the pad has worn, the full area of the pad will not be in contact with the disk. Is this normal? Very grateful for advice.

Regards

Mike

Many thanks Nicklouse. Do you know if there is a reason for this?

Best wishes

Mike

I’m sure there is - they wouldn’t do it otherwise!
Possibly to get the pads to bed in quicker, some manufacturers even put a slightly different compound on the first couple of mm
