Hi all,

The mini finally went for an mot and apart from a couple of minor things, sailed through.

Been driving it for about 40 miles no problem until a blocked fuel filter stopped me.

It is an aluminium one from eBay with a removable metal looking honeycomb core that can be cleaned. Tried spraying fast start fluid the wrong way at road side and blowing it through but 200 yards down the road same problem.

Took the honeycomb filter out and drove with no filter and no problems on the 15 miles Home.

How do I clean them??

Or am I better with plastic and paper disposables that I can swap roadside as I don’t like driving without one with today’s fuel.

Ps. The fuel tank was clean before its first petrol went in so no rust in the filter, just black powder/fine grit, maybe from the new fuel pipe or the fuel itself??

Any ideas or recommendations please

Tia

I'd replace all the fuel hose and the fuel filter( you can use the plastic and paper 'disposable' filters as these are alot cheaper than the one on the car.) as it sounds like the hose is breaking up internally.

If you decide use the disposable type have a word with your MOT tester as they may have a few in a drawer that you could have for the cost of replacements, or see the link below to the Plastic type I use

https://www.ebay.co....qsAAOSw-0BbcnCN

I'd also advise you to check the float bowl on the carburettor for debris

The hose is brand new !! Surely it can’t be that and if there is some debris in there it will soon dissipate???

It could well be something from the fuel tank level sender breaking up.

If the hose is new just renew the filter, check the float bowl for debris and enjoy the car.
