Yes.
A socket with universal joint and extensions, worked by someone above, with someone holding it on the bolt.
Take out the unit rather than trying to unscrew the cable.

If it is only 10%, leave it as it is.
It might save you a few points on your licence.

Having tried all manner of getting at them, I usually get at them from under these days.
Jack up the passengers side as high as you can (about 300 - 400 mm), pop the top ball joint, pop the drive shaft from the Pot Joint, pop the Pot Joint off. All the access you need.

So you want to guess which bit is driving it?
Not sure what you mean but I was under the impression it was the speedo drive gear on the gearbox that the cable attached to

Good point but when speedo is ready 70mph and 2 satnav a show you're only doing 662mph, it's a bit disappointing.
Imagine if I did 80mph, the speedo would go back to zero

This is something that I may have to look at seeing as I've just built a new dashboard with a MGB speedo (1280tpm) and have changed the final drive. I've no idea if it'll read accurately as the previous Stack Dash ran off a wheel sensor so I'll find out! I've used Guessworks very helpful speedo ratio calculator so I will know where to go if I need to change the worm and pinion http://www.guess-wor.../Tech/ratio.htm
Your technique to get to the speedo drive may well make my life easier so it's a thank you from me too!

Type into gurgle,
" How does a classic Mini speedo drive work ? "
And about the 6th down is an exploded diagram

Bit of math and you know it. Got the speedo tpm and know its misreading 10%.
