Thankfully my I've caught the boot floor in time and it's still strong enough to be worth salvaging rather than replacing ... either that or I've become addicted to Deox gel! Another half dozen applications and I should be free of the dreaded rot.

In doing so I'll renew the floor bungs, a job I've never done before. So are the new ones just fitted dry or should sealant be used? The pink cup looks like it's supposed to seal any water out but I'm not convinced, plus the originals had been painted and effectively paint sealed from new.

Stu.

I have just used rubber grommets not sure if you are after resto originality but grommets are great as you can just pop them out as needed

Don't you have to heat them up to melt the plastic?

When replacing my floor I just welded up these holes.

Not original I know but my thinking was it prevents another area for water to get in.
