Thread as in..what a nut goes on. What is the thread on the top of a kayaba?

I've got some Kayaba gas-a-just dampers in the shed. New, rears, never fitted. I decided to put them on my 96 Spi whilst I have a sec.
I don't have the nuts for the top and I cannot find anything to fit.

I wish I'd realised this before taking the tank strap off etc.. Car is stuck on axle stands now for the sake of 2 nylock nuts.

They're not M10 and the ones on the old shocks are a finer thread.

I'm off to minispares tomorrow for a load of bits if I get chance. Hopefully they will have some to fit.

More than likely 3/8unf, pretty much all threads are UNF or UNC on minis http://www.minispare...05.aspx|Back to

I thought so but I couldn't find anything to fit in my spares. I thought it might be metric as kayaba are Japanese.

These are in fact a fine thread M10.

M10 x 1.0 to be exact.

Not a nut that widely available.

Try a bicycle shop. 10x1mm is a solid rear axle thread. It won't be a nylock but you should be able to get a serrated flange nut.

I went to a fasteners suppliers.
The bloke in there reckoned M10x1.25 and gave me a couple of nylock. They fit fine.
