So a bit of a random question.....

My gear knob when tight is upside down.

Is the only way to fix this to increase the thread on either the stick or the knob or do I need to do both?

Any other way to fix it?

I currently have a 500 series type knob but can anyone tell me what was standard on a Cooper SPi?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

could you try putting a small washer on top of the stick so the gear knob can go over it?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Put some packing in the top of the gear knob so when you screw it on it runs out of travel sooner. Adjust the size of the packing to suit.

You want a material that won't compress over time. Tightly wadded paper might do it?

As MiddletoM says above and it could be any type of packing a piece of card, rubber or washer you could also try wrapping some PTFe tape around the threads of the gear stick. It will be a bit of trial and error until you get it tight and facing the right direction.

Not sure what the cooper Spi had as standard, our Mpi Cooper (98) came with this:
