Ok, all you JCG nerds out there (I include myself there of course) I was wondering if anyone could help here. Does anyone know how, or who, or with what exactly the plaques were engraved/stamped for the 90's Cooper? The ones that are screwed to the drivers side crossmember? Working on my brothers '95 Si + and his currently plaque has gone missing. It may turn up after he returns from Italy in a few years and he can go through all the boxes but if not...

His car is going through a complete restoration after a roll over/rust invasion. I spoke with Michael Cooper some years ago about it but can not remember his answer. He was able to provide me with some details on this car and sell me a the last set (he had) of decals for the side as a respray was always in the cards for this one. I'm a real nut for things to be as-they-were when I have to replace things and the engraving/stamps on the plaques always seems cool and unique to me. Any help would be awesome.

I've seen them engraved and some that used letter stamps, the Si all seem to be engraved

My 96 JC S just had 76 S stamped on it. I'm sure it also had the year......Sorry, never took a photo!

The 95 has the number and a cap S and lowercase i. They looked to be stamped. Just wondering if anything knows what type of stamp was used.

Most likely this has been covered in the MCR mag by the Rover Cooper registrar John Parnell. Worth dropping him a line to check.

Spot on MatthewsDad. I've seen the article by JP about later conversions, but my mags are in storage so can't help I'm afraid.

if they're stamped they will use standard letter stamps, possibly in a holder to keep it all neat. All you would need to do is get the correct height

Ivan, those look perfect. I'll get the height and see what I can do. Thanks!

Does anyone have John Parnell's contact info? Might be a good guy to know;-)

Ok, now I REALLY have to get my hands on the original and examine because after doing a bit of searching around, it looks like the original plaques were engraved/milled rather then stamped!

A local trophy engraver would be able to do it
