Hello beautiful mini fam! I'm trying to narrow down my search options looking for donner cars to swap from. From what I've gathered the obd1 ecu is easier to modify where as with obd2 I'd have to inevitably git rid of or convert stuff? Also with obd1 I can leave the ecu alone and run the car as is? Thanks in advance

I’m running obd1, I have used an OEM ECU and just recently moved to a Hondata s300.

Mine was a b16a2 from a ‘94 del sol. Same loom can be used for the jdm b18c motor too.... so I did :)

So if I source my motor from an obd2 car, all I need is a to change out the physical connection to the computer and the computer itself to obd1? Will everything function the same? And is there tutorial on how to chip the computer?? Thanks

I’d your motor and loom are obd2 I think you only need the adaptor harness for the ECU.

You’re best off with obd1 loom and motor in my opinion.
