So trouble free for nearly a year as a daily driver until today
Starts fine but sounds like a tank with reduced power
Dashpot has oil but noticed that the middle 2 ht leads when taken of and engine running dont have any effect at all engine remains steady - the other 2 leads do cause the engine tone to change
So new leads? Dizzy? - it's an electronic one
So will check in the morning
All good fun!

Hi

Have a look at the Cap, Rotor arm, electronic module, swap leads with another set or change them altogether if you know they are old - only a good thing for the future

Vacuum advance is working - suck on the tube - that is if you have one of course, fuel filter if you have one - and any LT leads

Just a few starting pointers

I would suspect head gasket gone between  cylinders 2 and three. A compression test will confirm but it does sound like it.

Mayo as I was saying!
Will check all other points in the morning
Still suspect leads - hopefully because it's cheaper!

Swap 1 and 4 leads with 2 and 3 and see what happens. You won't get mayo if the break is between 2 and 3 because the water ways or oil ports won't have been affected.

I suggested this because exactly the same thing happened to me a few years ago and the symptoms were the same, hopefully I'm wrong and it's an easy fix.
