I have now discovered what is going on with the floor. It’s had a extra floor welded into the passenger side foot well, the one I cut out was the original. The over sills are having the dread problem of rotting into the floor. My plan now is to remove the engine by a roll Over jig and replace the floors with new pans that have the inner sills already attached. Then weld new outer sills on, do I need to strength the shell if I just remove one side at a time. The passenger side it the worst but will do both. Any tips as this is going to be done on a drive. Thanks for your help.

So from what you are saying you are buying the half floor panels, ie from front to back??

If that is the case then yes add some bracing. You will need to get into the companion bins as well to do this job properly so they will need to be removed.

Yes I’ve checked in there and it’s completely rotten, is this part of the floor pan? I’m not worried about the work or welding just need to make sure I get it right. Yes I’m going to do one side full length at a time. It’s a shame as it’s only rotted we’re the over sill is welded to the floor, either side of the seam weld it’s fine.

The inside of the companion bin is part of the floor / inner sill. Its not a small job what you are going to do and will take some time to do it correctly.

Inner sill stiffener or companion bin closer and this is what the inner sill attaches to.

If you have a look at the Project Paddy link in my signature you will see all of this and it will guide you for what you need to do. I changed the inner sills to first flute on both sides as the floor was sound.
