I am taking the engine out. First time.
Everything is off except for driveshafts. Undone the top swivels. What happens next?

if you've drained the oil, then pop the inner pot-joints off the diff output shafts

if you haven't drained the oil (..and don't want to..), then undo the rubber boot on the pot joints and slide the drive shaft and spider out of the pot-joint catching any of the ball bearings that may fall out.  tie a plastic bag around the greasy mess that comes out the pot joint

Just realised this in the wrong section!b
Cheers. Ye oil is drained. So just lift the engine an inch and pop the ends out. Do they come easily?

they shouldn't take too much force to pop off - i find a large flat blade screwdriver gently tapped into the gap between the pot joint and output shaft cover normally does the trick, but don't be tempted to hammer away at it if it doesn't release as you'll knacker the cover.

The easier way I find is to split the pot joint, if you will reuse the pot joints I mark them before removing so that they go back in the same place.

All I do is cut the cable tie holding on the pot joint boot, then a good tug with the hub split from the ball joints and the full assembly comes out easy

Hope this helps
