Hi All,

Have recently joined the classic mini world purchasing myself a beautiful 1988 Austin Mini. I'm dearly in love with it (although alot of work ahead).

The car has been sat for two weeks whilst i have been away. Been out for a drive today and noticed a strange noise coming from the engine on cut off. This cannot be heard when its running, Its only when i turn off the engine i get a noise, Sounds like running water/liquid going somewhere. No leaks underneath that i can see.

I took a video and uploaded to YouTube to further explain how the noise sounds (May have to turn the volume up as its quite subtle) - https://youtu.be/C6a0CB_Qdhc

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon

I cant listen to the Vid at work, but I suspect its water "gurgling"... does the car over heat, is the rad cap on properly, and is the rubber on the Rad cap in tact ?

Hard to hear, could be coolant boiling on the engine when the water pump stops, was that video with the engine up to temp?

When cold .Check your rad is topped up and run the engine with rad cap off to bleed the air out

No worries, Car holds temp nicely and doesn't overheat (According to heat dial) Only really creeps above middle on long journeys. Checked the rad cap, On properly and all intact. :(

Thanks for your help, I've discovered the heater valve is corroded a little so it barely opens. Have ordered a new one, should come in the next few days! Fingers crossed that can help resolve the issue. Will keep you posted :)
