This ones out of my budget. Is it good enough to go to the bank to borrow though?

Now this is down to my personal preference but i would be more interested in the Ebay car although i would be trying to knock it down a bit.
It looks a good car BUT i would want to see pictures of what was done in the resto. Plus a really good walkround with someone who knows minis is always adviseable if your are unsure. That car is more likely to hold its money as well.
Your original car looks ok from a distance but paintwork does not all that good but as a toy more than good enough. Nice build for the engine but a straight cut box will be noisy and may get wearing over time.
Flip front is ok for some but not for all, i could go on about crash protection blah blah blah but it is what it is. However for both cars i would want to see if there are oversills fitted.
This would be the clincher for both deals knowing full well what they may hide. I hear all the time that oversills if fitted and treated will be fine, that is not true. They are a repair panel, nothing more. they are not as strong, they can and will cause problems down the road and ultimately will mean new inner sills to first flute on the floor. So buyer beware.

What are you going to used it for?
1st car is a track day toy, straight cut gearboxs can be annoying as mentioned, and the engine will most likely of been pushed to an inch of its life.
2nd car is totally different, nice every day/weekend toy to keep in the garage and keep dry.
I think your first thought is when your going to use it.
My mini is mainly a dry day toy. it does get wet but not really out of choice.
either look to be well restored. just your personal choice.

Thanks Neil, much appreciated. What do you think the ebay one is worth?

It would be a second car Jay if it was 4k ish. Sundays, meets etc, night time blasts.
If it was more it would have to be the main car for a little while.

Thanks Neil.
The first link seller has confirmed to me no sill repairs or oversills. Hes owned it 8 years.

Second one looks nice and usable - but check the sills. It's not clear from the underside photos if they are the correct vented type or oversills...
The first car in Dunbar is not too far away from two Mini specialists - Mcdonald Minis in Wallyford and Miniworks in Longniddry - one of whom might be willing to give the car a once over, but as others have said it is more of a track vehicle.

Thanks Mini Mad.
I very much like the original ones aesthetics and speaking to the vendor on the phone he seemed genuine enough. However Im not getting great responses to text messages now. Not sure I should be having to chase someone to buy their car.
The one with the carbon front, it will be a sunday car so I dont mind the track day vibe.

I think its probably too much rust as I dont want to be doing a restore right now.
Am I right?
