Based on the condition and work needed, the grey one is better value, probably actually cheaper in the long run.

Sounds like a good decision. Bear in mind there is rarely such a thing as 'surface rust' on a Mini...if you can see rust on the surface there is usually far more lurking under the skin.

 

On a positive note, the red car does have vented sills, not oversills!

The condition of the floor behind the sills looks bad to me. Nothing that can't be sorted but I'd put £100 on that needing a heel board, lower rear quarter panels inner sills and obviously new outers after anyway then, maybe some floor work too.

Rotten walk away little bits of rust appearing everywhere means big bill in a couple of years.
