Morning folk.

Which engine am I best to go for?

Performance versus reliability and potential to modify in the future.

Im looking at 2 cars right now, one is 998 bored out to 10something with 1275 head and uprated carb.

Other is 1275 L reg which Im guessing is SPI?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

Personally I'd go for the car which is more original.

thats hard to say to be honest

i always wanted a 1275 before getting my 998. now, im planning on upgrading it to a 7000 rpm speed demon overbored 998, and then i wake up 3 times a week thinking, nah, get a 1275 and get a solid 100hp setup, then i go back to sleep and rethink it all over again... I doubt there will ever be a correct/wrong approach. each engine has their own characteristics... but as bobbins said, take the one that has the "original" motor in there, even if its bored out. matching stuff is always more enjoyable later on
