I am about to pick my A+ 1275 block up from the machinist having had the final face skimmed and I was going to start building it up.

The Camshaft Bearings have not yet been replaced but I don't have the new Cam yet and the machinist needs the cam to put the bearings in. My old cam is packaged up and I was going to send it away tomorrow.

If I don't have the Camshaft in and I fit the Crank and Pistons is this going to make it difficult to replace the Cam Bearings?

You don’t need the cam to fit the bearings. You just need a tool to press them in. But I would not be fitting the crank and rods yet.

The machinist probably wants the cam so they can check the bearing clearance once the new ones are pressed in.

It used to be the case that cam bearings would need reaming to size after they were pressed in although modern ones normally don’t.

Either way I wouldn’t fit any components until the cam bearings have been fitted.
