The inlet pushrod cam follower on my engine appears to have disappeared. I se the tappets after finding a large gap. A week later the large gap was bsck so I took off the head to find that that particular pushrod much lower than the rest. What could be the problem

What engine? If it's a small bore you might be able to take the tappet covers off and see if the follower has moved ..
