Hi;

I am building a fast road engine (1310, AC RS Cam, Stage One, Mildly Modified Head).

I don't want to spend extra on a Vernier Duplex Setup but "think" I need a Duplex Chain as they stretch less after fitting and Gear Setup to replace the standard one in this Metro A+ 1275 (Circa 1989). To set it up I was going to use a standard woodruff key and then work out what degree offset key I needed.

The problem is that there are so many gear and chains about I need some help picking the correct one.

http://www.minispare...sic/duplex.aspx

Thanks

Ok saves money, I'll check the Timing Gear that I took off. I think it looked fine.

Use IWIS chain ...

What he said. A standard setup with a modern IWIS chain is all you need.

Back in June I asked MS if their chains were IWIS and was told they are not.

A standard chain should last 100 000 kms plus comfortably as long as the camshaft lobes are not too vicious, the valve springs not too strong and good engine oil, which is changed regularly, is used.

Of course if you are into racing then it is a totally different ball game :D
