I will defo be going 10s x 6", probably Revolutions with no arches. I did love my steel Cooper S wheels I had back in the 80s with the centre plain hub cap.

6 x 10" wheels usually need arches......

They WILL need arches, far too wide to run legally

I'm planning to buy these: http://www.minispare...px|Back to shop

Or these: http://www.minispare...px|Back to shop

Theres quite a price difference. Is the quality of the Minilites much better than the Minator wheels?

And finally.. I'm planning on keeping the standard arches. Will it look ridiculous, or are the wheels fine with the arches?

Cheers and thanks for al your help!

Ah right. Good to know. I did wonder. But then I noticed it was a typo. I meant 5s. I drove a Mini near to me that was for sale. It was on 10 x 6s and it felt heavy and horrible. I assume the 5s would be okay?

5 inch wheels need arches but nothing massive.

I have a set of 5" x 10" BWA alloys with 165/70 x 10 tyres and I have never used arch extensions.

If you don't want to use arches then it is essential to compare the 'offset' dimensions of your chosen wheels and to ensure there is sufficient clearance to shock absorbers, etc to allow them to fit without rubbing anything.

Now running on 10s. I love the look and the handling on the Yoko A032 is really really great! Even in the wet and cold they seem to stick to the road better than the winter 12s that I normally use.  :D

Now I am considering whether to keep the bonnet stripes or not and if MK2/3 rear lights might suit it better running on 10s.

I have 10" wheels on mine and it rides and corners way better than it did on the original 12".

That red and black combo is exactly what I will be looking to do with mine, except with Revolutions in 5 inch. Nice!

I bought the Minilite wheels back in 2016 and gave them a couple of coats of 2 pack laquer before fitting the tyres.

After 4 years of living outside, running all year round and generally being a little neglected the wheels have no sign of corrosion.

That looks great.

Is it me, or do Minis always look much better without wheel-arch extensions?

I used to have Group 2 arches on the 12” wheels but, yes, I agree the no arch extension looks much tidier and, based on the public reaction mine now gets, we are far from alone in thinking that.

I prefer the Mk2 lights over the later ones.

A Lucas 576 back mount reverse light on the boot lid would also go well!
