The middle 2 compression figures are low which suggests an issue, I dont think that the figures point towards a head gasket issue though, so could be a valve or ring issue?

Ah that’ll be a right pain then, I guess the test for rings is oil in the bore before the compression test? Anyway to test the valves?

Ideally you want to do a dry compression test, then add a little oil to each bore and repeat. You can also get leak down tests which can be a better test

Okay I’ll try and get a dry test tomorrow and add a bit of oil and see what those results say

So did the wet compression test
C1 No change at 175 psi
C2 150 psi before 170 psi after
C3 110 psi before 150 psi after
C4 150 psi before 160psi

So I take it that’s rings?

Those figures look good, except Cylinder 3, 40 psi is a little too much change. However if the engine runs well you could use a diesel oil for 100 miles to make sure the rings haven't gummed up

Hey Creaky, any update on your car as following thread for future reference in case I run into the same. The only time my buddy's and I ran into this issue was due to the pump and carb related issues - but think you mentioned all are good?
