Allright,

so here is some picture of a brand new part bought from a reputable dealer... and this is also why this conforts me into making my own part: Appart from a few top-quality top-dollar part manufacturers, the quality of the rest of what we buy is just garbage.

So here is a switch support plate.

how can you mess this simple piece of metal up ? Well, turns out in many ways.

straight from the box, the paint is coming off.

the embossing is not centered and not even fully applied everywhere.

the surrounding is not even rounder properly.

It's a terrible, terrible part. and this part is not from Amazon, or the Bay, it's from one of the top european part dealer. So why did I buy this ? I did not have very high expectactions and turns out I was right. the reason why I bought this, is because I need one to replace on my car, so that the original one serves me as a TEMPLATE so I make my OWN, high quality, laser cut part.

We all know that quality is going down the drain generally on the mini scene, but common...

what about getting an old one from a secondhand spares shop and sandblasting and respraying it? That's usually the only option for us over here as it doesn't make a lot of sense to buy and ship these types of trim pieces from the UK.

I buy 'New Old Stock' whenever i can.

Sick to death of buying parts that are supposedly made to 'Original Equipment' specification (from any & all of the leading parts suppliers) that are frankly utter rubbish, it's got to the stage that 70% immediately go in a plastic crate marked 'Poor Quality- Emergency Use Only!'

When will they realise that the Mini is no longer a cheap runabout & that owners are willing to pay a premium for better quality items.

Actually my plan is to make something spécial for the plate. But i needed a template. So I bought this one. It's not even good for a template. So it will go temporarily on my car while I make a template for measurements with the good stuff. :)

This is so true. There are a handfew companies out there that I trust with parts. I got some DSN retrosport, some MED/KAD/swiftune... Really good stuff but not cheap for sure.

What worries me here is that this is a simple part with no mechanical stress. And they f**** it up. I am very concerned by parts that are mission critical and that are maybe made by the same artists...

Allright so i contacted the dealer. His answer is that they are all like that and they won't replace. So i have to return it. Really Bad quality of work.

I don't want to name-drop here. But if there are french reading this post, i'm glad to Tell in direct message which shop Should be avoided if you are After this part.

Recently bought a bottom Alternator bracket that has the slide to adjust tension. Bought the correct bolt as per illustrated parts catalogue and the hole for the bolt was too small. Not a big issue but annoying when you go to fit it and it needs modification
