It's long been a wish of mine to take my Mini to a track day at the Nurburgring. I've been round a few time on a tourist days in my MINI and am worried my existing 3.9 FD Mini engine is not a good match for such a long track.
If you had to build an engine with only one goal, to make it round the ring for a whole day, what spec would you build?
Few rules:
- No engine swaps, must be an A/A+/MPI block
- Must support crank fired timing (existing ECU)
- Work with my existing front mount rad & electric water pump
- Must be a dog box, ideally A+ rod style
- Points for originality
The car will be taken to the track on a trailer so not got to worry about light switch clutches or poor idle speeds.
I've considered a KAD16v with 74mm pistons on their 4 speed dog box - not sure on FD. Like the idea of a similar spec EFI 8 port.
Genuine query, all discussion welcome.
