Hi all,

I recently bought on Minispares the new door seals for my '82 Clubman Estate: i noticed two slots on it (see image below) but I does not know where they should be located in the door frame (up, down, near the corners ?).

Thanks for help !

The two ends of the seal should meet mid-way along the lower door frame seam. Thus the two cut-outs are in the lower corners.

The two cut outs should align with the drain holes on the bottom of the door.

I fitted mini pretty much as Cooperman said, don't know if the slots align with the door drains though.

Was your seal in the right lenght or you had to cut it ?

They may not look it but they are the correct length. Don't cut them!

When I was stuck on the same question of where the holes go I phoned up minispares (they supplied the seal after all). The numpty I spoke to on the phone told me "the holes were for the control rods(???) maybe they operated the locks?". Words fail me.

Can you tell me what the correct length is, please? I have been supplied with cut length seals that are longer than the originals by about 6 inches. There is no way can I compress them enough to fit.

Also as there are no cut-outs, is that something I should remedy?

Thanks in advance for you advice.

I make them 127.5 inches.
I wouldn't worry too much about the cut outs, the originals on my 72 didn't have them although there were some small holes punched in the seals but I'd presumed they were to let the air out and the seals compress as the joint had a solid but compressible joining piece effectively creating an endless seal.
