Steering racks are not filled with oil these days. They are just "greased up"

But the oil does a much better job of actually lubricating, just make sure the gaskets and seals are in top condition or it will end up on the floor.
Worth doing as the rack will last much longer.

You have to think about the steering gators that are available today, some don't last a year, so yes, your oil will one day leak out.
My greased steering rack has covered over 100,000 miles and is still good to go.

I've always found when overhauling Steering Rack, those that were filled with Oil, except for the Bush on the Passenger's Side, usually have very little wear in them, it only when the Oi has run out, that they are worn, and that is the down side of putting Oil in them, that you have to keep a closer eye on the Gaiters and Gaskets.
200 ml of EP90.
The ones that were Greased are usually well worn. on top of this, sometimes the Gaiters can be torn and the owner not know of it.
The factory originally filled them with Oil and the move to Grease was to get around warranty issues if they leaked.

It would be shameful of minispares if it was not greased up. I would take a look just in case and pack even more in there.

Just for those not familiar with EP90. It is generally a gearbox oil.

The proper grease is a semi fluid grease.
I use Maxol semi fluid 00EP
Is viscosity would be very simular to Gearbox oil EP90.

Unfortunately the smallest container is 3kg

I've had my tin a while but its better to have it than be looking for it

Thanks for all the input, am I correct in thinking that my rack will have been greases from Minispares then ?
I'm sure it would have been supplied from Mini Spares either filled with an appropriate lubricant or it would have a notice attached.
